About the Writer

SheilaHi, I’m Sheila Moss, Tennessee humorist and free-lance columnist as well as blogger and chief coffee drinker here at “HumorColumnistBlog.com.” I’ve been writing online since 1998, publishing my columns on a website way before blogs became popular.

I write a “lifestyle” column about the ordinary world and the humdrum things of life — point being, make the ordinary seem extraordinary by the way the story is told. If I can do that — it’s enough. If you do not like to look for the funny side of life, you have come to the wrong place.

My work is widely published in various online features and in print publications. My column was carried by The Daily New of Kingsport until the paper was retired. I have written for a supplement of the Tennessean Newspaper, Atlanta Woman magazine, and have articles published by major publishers, such as McGraw-Hill, Voyageur Press, and Guidepost Books. Reprints have been published by numerous websites and newspapers. I’m a former board member of the National Society of Newspaper Columnists and past editor of  Columnist.com, the NSNC website.

If you are an editor or a webmaster, you can have my column in your publication or on your website.  Just send me an email for permission.  SheilaMoss@HumorColumnistBlog.com.

If you are just visiting, that’s great!  My readers are what make all this work worthwhile and are the reason I do it.  Please hit that “Like” or “Share” button or follow me on Facebook  or Twitter, so I will know my words are not simply falling into a black hole in cyberspace.

Thanks for reading and please come again for more.

Many, many, many years ago, while driving across the Great Plains on a family vacation, us kids started complaining about how BORING the drive was.

“There is nothing to HERE,” we wailed.

My father pulled the car onto the shoulder and ordered us out. He then walked us into the ditch and parted the grass, “Look,” he said, “there is a whole world down there. All you have to do is know where to look and how to pay attention.”

Sometimes I need a laugh to get through the day and you may just be the ticket! Of course I could always turn to memories of my own for that but that’s no fun. Those are reruns…~Elle
